On the way to the first stop your private local expert will tell you several stories about MEXICO CITY, Mexican traditions, local life. Your local expert will answer ALL your questions, he will also give you space to relax and, if you prefer, to sleep during this 1-hour ride.

COYOACAN

The first stop will be COYOACAN, word which comes from the Nahuatl COYOHUACAN that means “place possed by coyotes”. This place played an important role during the conquest of Mexico and then became one of the most important towns of the New Spain due to the land that was rich for soil. The places that you can visit here are 1) Coyoacan Market 2) Frida Khalo museum (this is not included in the original tour but we can add it if you like, please only consider that we can do buy the tickets and these are nonrefundable), 3) Jardin Centenario 4) San Juan Bautista Church. During the walking you can enjoy the famous churros from Coyoacan.

Remember that EVERYTHING is DONE at YOUR PACE and you can stay in each place as long as you want. Your guide, who is fluent in ENGLISH and certified by the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History), will give you an extensive narrative about the sites and he will answer ALL your questions. Our guides love deep, complex and funny conversations so feel free to ask him anything you want.

XOCHIMILCO

After visiting Coyoacan, will continue to a magical place which is hide in the city, and also played another important role during the conquest of Mexico. This place was one of the most important lakes in that era and today continues the plantation tradition, XOCHIMILCO LAKE. Here you are going to take a ride in a boat called “Trajinera” between the canals of the lake. Admire the beauty from the place and learn about the unique technique of plantation, the history and the legends of Xochimilco. Also, you can have a lot fun hiring mariachis, singing, dancing, trying Mexican snacks from other boats who sell, like quesadillas, cup of corn called esquites, and even pulque.

The ride takes 3 hours so if you need to use bathrooms, the boat can do different stops around the canals, where this service is offered. We will buy you traditional Mexican snacks for the ride, but if you would like to bring additional food or some beer, you are more than welcome to bring it.

TRAVELING BACK

When you are ready, we will head back to the hotel or your Airbnb. For the ride back we can find traffic into the city it could take 45-60 minutes the way back.

This private tour was planned to be back in your hotel or Airbnb at 18.00 p.m. but since everything is done at your pace the exact time of the return will depend on you. Also please note that this is your private tour and so you have the FLEXIBILITY to go back to the hotel at any point or skip any activity you don’t want to do.
