TACOS AL PASTOR

The Mexican cuisine is considered Cultural Heritage of the Humanity since 2010, due to the variety that we can find in the entire country. Our first stop is to taste “taco al pastor”, which is a taco with pork marinated with achiote, different mix of chilis, orange juice and vinegar. This is an emblematic dish of Mexico City. You will try it in one of the most famous taquerias “El HUEQUITO” who starts in 1950 in a tiny place and now it’s well known. You will try the “taco especial”, a mountain of this meat with two different kinds of spicy sauces.

SAN JUAN MARKET

After trying the famous taco al pastor, we continue the experience in the market. San Juan market is popular for chefs and general people because of the exotic section that they have. If there is a rare ingredient that you would like to cook, San Juan market is the option. Here you will see how Mexican markets are and also you will have a mezcal tasting from two to three different kind of agave plants. The guide will show the correct way to drink the mezcal and some history of the liquor. Beside the mezcal you will have a Mexican snack that goes well with the beverage: crickets. But if you are in the mood to try something more exotic, you can enjoy your mezcal with a SCORPION.

TENAMPA BAR-RESTAURANT

After visiting the Mexican market, we move to GARIBALDI PLAZA. This plaza is a popular place for a fun night out with Mariachis. GARIBALDI PLAZA had different usages throughout its history but in 1920´s it received the actual name in honor one of the generals from Francisco I. Madero’s government. It was until 1925´s when it started the tradition of the MARIACHIS at SALON TENAMPA restaurant: with two mariachis “Cocula and Reyes Mariachis”. The people came to gather in this place, singing with the mariachi, have some drinks and eating all kind of traditional snacks, Tlacoyos, pambazos, sopes, guacamole and gorditas. Here, you will have a Tequila tasting of two types and try more Mexican snacks while hearing some songs of Mariachi in your table.

CHURROS EL MORO

We end our tour with a dessert, you will taste CHURROS. The history of this “dish” is controversial as there are different versions of the place of its origin. However, we are here for the food and this is a traditional dessert in the city. We will go to one of the oldest stores that sold the churros called “EL MORO”. This store opened its doors in 1930´s and the first store is located in the Historic Center. You can decide if you wish to visit this first store or one of the modern branch offices in the Polanco o Condesa areas. You can miss the opportunity to try fresh churros with sugar and cinnamon with a hot chocolate or milk shake!
