The archeological site of TEOTIHUACAN was open for the public in 1910, it was discover by Leopoldo Batres one of the first archaeologist of Mexico, who works to Porfirio Diaz the current president of Mexico in the 1900ยดs.ย The important things to see in TEOTIHUACAN are: 1) The temple of Quetzalcoatl, 2) The Pyramid of the Sun, 3) The Pyramid of the Moon, 4) The temple of Quetzalcoatl, 5) Calzada de los Muertos, 6) Mural puma. Please note that around 10.30 am it start getting hot so please take several bottles of water with you and keep drinking water toย STAY HYDRATED.
BASILICA DE GUADALUPE (OPTION 1)
After visiting TEOTIHUACAN, we go back to the city you can choose to visit the second place more visited among the Catholicism around the world, Basilica de Guadalupe. The compound has different buildings dedicated to the first religion in Mexico. Take a look and admire the beauty of the most iconic place that has the legend of the vision from the Virgin Maria, at the Hill of Tepeyac.
The Basilica de Guadalupe was open for the public in 1700ยดs. The important chapels and cathedrals to see are 1) The new Cathedralย 2)The first Cathedral that was built in the 1700ยดsย 3) Capilla de los Indios 4) Capilla del pocitoย 5) Capilla del cerro del Tepeyac. Please note on weekends could be a little crowed because they celebrate baptisms and mass.
MONUMENTO A LA REVOLUCIรN (OPTION 2)
Another option to choose for your visit is one of the most emblematic architectures of the city, Monument to the Revolution. The construction started in 1906 by the French architect Emile Benard. The original project was a luxury building to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Independence and to be the new Mexican Congress. However, due to several political, economic and structural issues, the blueprints changed and the result was a monument in the middle of a big square to represent the constant revolution of the people. With this, the construction finally ended in 1933ยดs by another architect. Today, you can go inside and take a look of the construction from inside, the foundations and enjoy a 360ยฐ view of the city from the top.ย
