COBA & TULUMPRIVATE TOUR from Tulum

On the way to the site your local expert will tell you several stories about MEXICO, the Peninsula of Yucatan, the Riviera Maya, Mexican traditions, local life, he will also give you a broad explanation of the Mayan culture so that when you are at the ruins, you can focus more on architecture and specific facts of the ancient city of Coba. Your local expert will answer ALL your questions, he will also give you space to relax and, if you prefer, to sleep during this 45 minutes ride.

ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE OF COBA

We will arrive at 8.45 a.m. because we want you to be one of the first ones to arrive and enjoy this site intimately, without lines and multitudes, and feel the freshness of the jungle around you. Due to COVID, the entrance to Coba is at 9.00 a.m..

We love this site because it’s the only one in the Riviera Maya in which you can ride a bike and truly FEEL and EXPLORE the jungle. Coba is an opportunity to reconnect yourself with NATURE. In order to reach the main pyramid, you will need to cross 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) of fresh jungle. Bike, walk or use a Mayan tricycle with driver (what is locally called a Mayan limousine) through the jungle is a great adventure. The breeze and smell of the jungle, the green color of the trees, the sing of birds and the sight of wild animals will make you feel FREE and in PEACE. 

In Coba you will encounter Mayan steles, traditional ball game courts and small Mayan roads that will enchant you. At the end of the crossing you will see the pyramid of Nohoch Mul – the tallest in the Yucatan Peninsula. Park your bike, or step down of your limousine and admire the summit. Take your time to RECHARGE your ENERGY and refresh (it’s important to drink a lot of water). When you are ready start your way back through the jungle, at your rhythm.

From Coba we will drive back to Tulum, this will make the return smoother. After a 45 minutes ride, we will arrive to our second stop: Tulum, the only Mayan ruin in front of the CARIBBEAN SEA. Its old name, Zama, means “dawn“, and its current name, Tulum, means “between walls“, so literally your guide will open the doors of these barriers to contemplate the immensity of the Caribbean Sea, where the water flashes in 7 shades of blue that you will see from the viewpoints of the citadel. 

This is the perfect place to take a picture and share with your friends the beauty of the RIVIERA MAYA and its turquoise sea. Remember that EVERYTHING is DONE at YOUR PACE and you can stay in the site as long as you want. Your guide, who is fluent in ENGLISH and certified by the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History), will give you an extensive narrative about the site and the Mayan culture and most importantly he will answer ALL your questions. OPEN CENOTE OR CAVE & UNDERGROUND RIVERS

It has been an amazing day and now we want you to RELAX and REFRESH. For the last stop you have to choose between 2 options: 1) An open sky cenote in the middle of the jungle, a piscine of crystalline water. We chose this place for you to admire the jungle but more importantly to have fun and refresh. Here you dive, jump, swim, and take the most compelling photos. Or 2) A cave that has underground rivers. This cave belongs to a Mayan family and is in the middle of the jungle. An entrance to the underworld. here you will explore and discover unique and unknown sights; we will enter the heart of the jungle to see its roots, its mysteries and to learn the history of Cenotes. Both are unique experiences and both are so good that we were not able to choose for you.

Your private guide will make you feel SAFE and PROTECTED at ALL TIMES, if you don’t know how to snorkel he will teach you and even if you are a pro he will give you the best tips to make your experience better – you can also check our article “Snorkel Tips for Beginners” in our blog. In addition, our snorkel expert is equipped with a water rattle that improves the guide-tourist aquatic communication, he also carries a floater in order to assist you if you are having difficulties, if you are tired or if you want to look around more relaxed, we call it the “Taxi“. 

To guarantee the best snorkeling experience we use PROFESSIONAL SNORKEL EQUIPMENT. The masks that we use have NO FOGGING and are LEAK PROVE. The tube has a special vent that does not allow water to come in and our vests have the right design and size. It is important to emphasize that all our equipment is DEEP CLEANED and SANITIZED every day. The Cenotes have restrooms and changing rooms so please don’t forget to bring your SWIMSUIT, TOWEL and dry clothes so that you can change at the end. The time in all 2 Cenote is free, we will stay in each Cenote AS LONG AS YOU WANT, you tell us when to leave.

LUNCH (OPTIONAL)

After an active day you will have a BIG appetite and if you want, we can take you to eat at a local AUTHENTIC restaurant, this simple place will immerse you in the flavors of Mexico. Seafood or typical Mexican cuisine in Tulum: your choice. If you don’t want to visit a restaurant, no problem; we will take you back to your hotel or Airbnb as fast as possible so you can continue enjoying the rest of your day in the pool or in the beach.

You can decide if you want to go for lunch at any moment (in advance or on the same day). We will adjust the schedule to what is best for you.

TRAVELING BACK

If you decide not have lunch we will head back to the hotel or your Airbnb after the cenote. For the ride back we will take the HIGHWAY. From Dos Ojos community to Tulum it only takes 20 minutes.

This private tour was planned to finish at 14.30 p.m. but since everything is done at your pace the exact time of the return will depend on you. Also please note that this is your private tour and so you have the FLEXIBILITY to go back to the hotel at any point or skip any activity you don’t want to do. 

If you decide to have lunch, please consider from 1 hour to 1.5 hours more. You should be arriving in your hotel or Airbnb between 15.50 p.m. and 16.20 p.m..
