On the way to the site and during the tour your private local expert will tell you several stories about MEXICO, the Riviera Maya, Mexican traditions, local life, he will also tell you how CENOTES were formed and how the Peninsula of Yucatan was created. This adventure was PLANNED by our SNORKELING EXPERT, a local detective that has swum in more than 300 Cenotes and has created the perfect itinerary. We want you so visit the BEST Cenotes in the Riviera Maya, this means not crowded, clean, totally crystalline and above all, AUTHENTIC. This might not the most popular Cenotes on the internet but that is because we have gone the extra mile to find UNIQUE places that not everybody knows (and believe us we are constantly looking for the best).

This private tour is called SNORKEL AS NEVER BEFORE because we take you to 3 totally different and spectacular water ecosystems in one day: 1) A LAGOON that flows into the sea – mixing salt and sweat water and creating a unique environment where you will see hundreds of fish. 2) An OPEN CENOTE in the middle of the jungle where you will connect with nature, and 3) A CAVE under the jungle with UNDERGROUND RIVERS – an experience that you will not forget.

Your private guide will make you feel SAFE and PROTECTED at ALL TIMES, if you don’t know how to snorkel he will teach you and even if you are a pro he will give you the best tips to make your experience better – you can also check our article “Snorkel Tips for Beginners” in our blog. In addition, our snorkel expert is equipped with a water rattle that improves the guide-tourist aquatic communication, he also carries a floater in order to assist you if you are having difficulties, if you are tired or if you want to look around more relaxed, we call it the “Taxi”. 

To guarantee the best snorkeling experience we use PROFESSIONAL SNORKEL EQUIPMENT. The masks that we use have NO FOGGING and are LEAK PROVE. The tube has a special vent that does not allow water to come in and our vests have the right design and size. It is important to emphasize that all our equipment is DEEP CLEANED and SANITIZED every day. We know that the right equipment is key to a great experience and it will allow you to only focus on ENJOYING and HAVING FUN. 

If you wear glasses, don’t worry, we have GRADUATED MASKS, when booking indicate your prescription number level and we will bring the right mask for you.

YALKU LAGOON, OPEN CENOTE, CAVE & UNDERGROUND RIVERS

The Mayas believe that Cenotes are SACRED PLACES with MAGICAL POWERS and you have to know that Cenotes are UNIQUE to the Peninsula of Yucatan; they were formed circa 55 million years ago and there are several types. Our first stop is the Yalku Lagoon, we want to be there a little before 8.00 a.m. to give you your snorkeling equipment and to have some minutes to make sure it fits you well and is working properly before the Lagoon opens (please note that the lagoon opens at 9.00 a.m. to the general public but we have a special agreement that allows us to enter at 8.00 a.m.). Once you are ready, we are ready to be the first to enter the water. At this time, you won’t see many tourists, but expect plenty of fish, aquatic fauna, and crystalline water. This ecosystem is unique and a beautiful experience.

Our second stop is an open cenote, a natural pool of crystal-clear water located in the middle of the jungle with an incredible landscape. You will feel in a Tarzan film. We have chosen this cenote because it will allow you to connect with nature and feel peace. Also, this Cenote is so much fun, you can jump from a platform or use the stairs.

For our last stop, 12 minutes into the jungle, and in the middle of a Mayan community, a CAVE, a window into the underground and a door to the Mayan Underworld. We love this place because it is something you have never seen, and you won’t believe how beautiful it is. Here you must expect the unexpected. We will snorkel in the depths of the jungle to get to know its roots and mysteries, you will see unique rock formations as you slide through underground tunnels. It is an unrepeatable experience and a great adventure that you will never forget. If you are more adventurous ask your guide to take you to the back side of the cave!

The Cenotes have restrooms and changing rooms so please don’t forget to bring your SWIMSUIT, TOWEL and dry clothes so that you can change at the end. The time in all 3 Cenote is free, we will stay in each Cenote AS LONG AS YOU WANT, you tell us when to leave.

LUNCH (OPTIONAL)

After a very active day you will have a big appetite and if you want, we can take you to eat at a local authentic restaurant, this simple place will immerse you in the flavors of Mexico. Seafood or typical Mexican cuisine at Tulum, your choice. If you don’t want to visit a restaurant, no problem; we will take you back to your hotel or Airbnb as fast as possible so you can continue enjoying the rest of your day in the pool or in the beach.

You can decide if you want to go for lunch at any moment (in advance or on the same day). We will adjust the schedule to what is best for you.

TRAVELING BACK

If you decide not have lunch, we will head back to the hotel or your Airbnb after the Cave. For the ride back we will take the HIGHWAY. From Dos Ojos community to Tulum it only takes 30 minutes.  

This private tour was planned to finish at 14.00 p.m. but since everything is done at your pace the exact time of the return will depend on you. Also please note that this is your private tour and so you have the FLEXIBILITY to go back to the hotel at any point or skip any activity you don’t want to do. 

If you decide to have lunch, please consider from 1 hour to 1.5 hours more. You should be arriving in your hotel or Airbnb between 15.30 p.m. and 16.00 p.m..
