PICKUP AND ROADTRIP
Your English-speaking LOCAL EXPERT will be waiting for you at your HOTEL or AIRBNB lobby from Playa Mujeres, Cancun or Puerto Morelos with a great smile at 7.00 a.m. We can change the pickup time if you wish but we recommend these times because we want to arrive early, avoid the crowds and the midday heat while you are inside of Chichen Itza.
We know that your time is valuable and that you want to spend the least time travelling so we take the TOLL HIGHWAY to the Chichen Itza. This route safes 1-hour and guarantees the safest and shortest travel time. We will arrive at Chichen Itza at 9.15 a.m.. Remember that this is your private tour, so we won’t make any additional stops unless you want.
On the way to the site your private local expert will tell you several stories about MEXICO, the Peninsula of Yucatan, the Riviera Maya, Mexican traditions, local life, he will also give you a broad explanation of the Mayan culture so that when you are at the ruins, you can focus more on architecture and specific facts of the ancient city of Chichen Itza. Your local expert will answer ALL your questions, he will also give you space to relax and, if you prefer, to sleep during this 2-hour 15 minutes ride.
The van has plenty cold bottles of WATER for you to take.
This private tour normally uses a Volkswagen Transporter, however we offer upgrades to SUVs and luxury cars (Mercedes Benz) for an extra fee. If you would like to explore this option, please contact one of our local experts.
ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
Once at CHICHEN ITZA, we want you to take advantage of being one of the first to arrive and so the first place we will see inside the archeological site is the KUKULKAN CASTLE. We want you to have an intimate encounter with the pyramid and be able to take MAGNIFICIENT PICTURES without people. You will feel that the archaeological site was open exclusively for you. Take as many selfies as you like and your guide will also take many pictures of you – we are sure that one of these pictures will be your next profile picture, a photo with two wonders: you and Chichen Itza.
Remember that EVERYTHING is DONE at YOUR PACE and you can stay in the site as long as you want. Your guide, who is fluent in ENGLISH and certified by the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History), will give you an extensive narrative about the site and the Mayan culture and most importantly he will answer ALL your questions. Our guides love deep, complex and funny conversations so feel free to ask him anything you want.
The archeological site of Chichen Itza is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 and one of the SEVEN WONDERS of the modern world since 2007. The important things to see in Chichen Itza are: 1) The temple of Kukulkan, 2) The Temple of the Warriors, 3) The temple of the Skulls, 4) The Sacred Cenote, 5) The main Ball Court, 6) The Observatory and 7) La Iglesia. Please note that around 10.30 am it start getting hot so please take several bottles of water with you and keep drinking water to STAY HYDRATED.
DEEP CENOTE
After all the walking we want that you RELAX and COOL DOWN and the best way to do that is inside of a wonderful Cenote. The Mayas believe that Cenotes are SACRED PLACES with MAGICAL POWERS and their cold crystal-clear water will make you feel like in a spa. Cenotes are UNIQUE to the Peninsula of Yucatan; they were formed circa 55 million years ago and there are several types. The region of Chichen Itza is around 30 meters (90 feet) above sea level and it has 2 types of Cenotes 1) deep cylinder sinkholes and 2) big caves. The Cenote we currently go to (and believe us we are constantly looking for the best) is Hacienda OXMAN. This Cenote is a DEEP CYLINDER sinkhole. We love this place because the setting and the BLUE COLOR of the water when the sunlight enters is amazing. Also, this Cenote is LESS crowded and if we arrive early you will be able to enjoy this place almost by yourself and take the BEST photos.
The Hacienda has changing rooms so please don’t forget to bring your SWIMSUIT and a TOWEL. It is important to know that to enjoy this beautiful place, we will need to go down around 90 steps (the water is at sea level because ALL Cenotes are connected through UNDERGROUND RIVERS that end up in the sea). To enter the water, you can calmly walk the final steps or, if you are more ADVENTUROUS, you can jump from a rope like Tarzan. If you jump, ask your local expert to take a SLOW-MOTION video, you will LOVE it!! Swimming in the Cenote is safe but in case you need, we always bring our own life jackets, they are CLEANED and DISINFECTED every day. The time at the Cenote is free, we will stay in the Cenote AS LONG AS YOU WANT, you tell us when to leave.
Hacienda OXMAN is 25 minutes from Chichen Itza. To get there we need to take the regular road and we will pass several small VIALLAGES and COMMUNITIES so you will get to see the rural side of Yucatan State and some of the local life.
LUNCH AT VALLADOLID
5 minutes away from Hacienda OXMAN is the COLONIAL town of VALLADOLID. Founded in 1543 AC, one of the oldest cities in YUCATAN, At this point you will be very hungry so local expert will take for lunch in a local restaurant in the main square. Your private guide will explain the menu and give you recommendations depending on what you want to taste. If you are VEGETARIAN, don’t worry, only let us know so we can take you to a local restaurant with right options for you. The food is included in the tour but the beverages and drinks during the lunch are not (this is the only thing that is not included in the tour). Unfortunately, the bottles of water that we give you cannot be used inside.
Valladolid is a great place to wonder. After lunch you can take some photographs the main square or zocalo. We recommend having an ice cream, visiting the main cathedral and exploring the small streets next by with its amazing MEXICAN COLORS and local life. If you are looking for LOCAL HANDCRAFTS, there are little shops or small markets where you can find beautiful things.
If you are not tired, we recommend walking the charming street of Calzada de los Frailes with its beautiful Spanish architecture, boutique stores and small cafes. At the end of the street you will arrive at the Ex Convento de San Bernardino de Siena, admire this beautiful monastery and take incredible pictures.
If you are tired and you don’t want to walk in Valladolid is no problem, just ask your local expert to drive you through the town and show you these attractions from the comfort of the van.
TRAVELING BACK
When you are ready admiring Valladolid we will head back to the hotel or your Airbnb. For the ride back we will take the TOLL HIGHWAY. From Valladolid to Playa Mujeres, Cancun, Puerto Morelos is a 1 hour and 45 minutes ride.
This private tour was planned to be back in your hotel or Airbnb at 17.45 p.m. but since everything is done at your pace the exact time of the return will depend on you. Also please note that this is your private tour and so you have the FLEXIBILITY to go back to the hotel at any point or skip any activity you don’t want to do.

Our expedition was planned by a snorkeling expert, our local detective has swum in more than 300 cenotes, thus he uses all his experience to create a perfect itinerary, so you get to know the true best places. When we refer you to the best cenotes, we don’t necessarily refer you to the most popular cenotes or the ones that all tourists visit, as for us the best places are those that are not that crowded, clean, totally crystalline and above all, authentic.
We strive to create an exclusive, diferent and complete tour, which is why we decided to call this adventure ” Cenotes, Snorkel as never before”, as you will be able to experience 3 totally diferent water ecosystems in a single day, an open cenote, a cavern and a unique aquatic ecosystem; a set of what were once several cenotes linked to each other through an underground river that when joined, they became a lagoon that flows into the sea.
A key factor for a good experience is a good equipment, as we have premium equipment, disinfected, with which you will not see a single fogging particle, as it doesn’t allow any water access to your eyes or your mouth, our vests are sanitized too.
Our guide will ensure for you to feel safe and protected, the snorkeling expert is equipped with a water rattle, which allows sounds to be emitted through water. This way we improve the guide-tourist aquatic communication, we also carry a rescue floater to be able to assist a person who may have difculties in the activities, we call it the “Taxi”. You only hold this rescue floater, and we carry you, if you wear glasses, don’t worry, because at the time of your reservation, you can give us your prescription number. Our team is not only professional and clean, we also have prescription masks.
If you don’t have a waterproof camera, don’t worry. When making the reservation, you can request the aquatic and adventure photography service completely free, as our guide will take the latest generation Go Pro camera. He will be your photographer but you can also use the camera.
The meeting point will be at your hotel, a federal SUV with tourist plaques will pick you up. Our frst activity will be the Yalku Lagoon, when we arrive before other tourists, you will fnd the waters less stirred and much more crystalline, we will take the SUV to arrive to the second point, an open cenote, located in the middle of the Mayan jungle, with an incredible landscape, you will feel as if you were in a Tarzan flm. We have chosen this cenote because it is very fun, in this magical place you can jump from a platform, or run through a zip-line, flying above the cenote, the moment will come where the zip line’s path ends and you have to let yourself fall into the cenote, and you will have a great time. We have left our most mysterious place as last; we will enter 12 minutes in the middle of the jungle, park the truck in a Mayan village, walk a bit and fnd a hole, then we will enter the underground to realize that it is a new world down there, you won’t believe how beautiful the jungle can be inside it.
